Vehicles ship from China to the Port of Mombasa, East Africa's largest port, either by Ro-Ro vessel or in 40HQ containers. From Mombasa, cars continue to Nairobi by road or on the Standard Gauge Railway. Mombasa is also the start of the Northern Corridor to Uganda, Rwanda and South Sudan.
Imported vehicles must meet the standards set by the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and duties are assessed by the Kenya Revenue Authority. Your clearing agent confirms current requirements; we provide the export documents they ask for, such as the commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading.
